METAWATER Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “METAWATER”), its U.S. subsidiary METAWATER USA, INC. (hereinafter referred to as “MUSA”), and the U.S. company Aqua-Aerobic Systems, Inc. (hereinafter referred to as “AAS”) implemented the merger of AAS and MUSA’s subsidiary, and converted the surviving AAS into a wholly-owned subsidiary of MUSA on January 15, 2016, in accordance with the agreement* signed on October 28, 2015.
In accordance with the execution of the growth strategy for the North America business and leveraging AAS, METAWATER will transfer the operation of businesses concerning ozone generation systems and ceramic membrane filtration systems to AAS effective May 1, 2016. These businesses have been under the operational control of MUSA to date, and upon the transfer, MUSA will play the role of providing support to AAS.
METAWATER has supplied ozone generation equipment to more than 30 water treatment plants in the North American market. Following the supply of ceramic membrane filtration systems to the Rueter–Hess Reservoir Water Treatment Plant in Colorado, METAWATER, as a primary equipment supplier for the first time in the North American market, acquired an order for ceramic membrane filtration systems from Butte Water Treatment Plant in Montana in May 2015.
AAS has a strong business base in the North American market, as seen in the supply of distinctive products and services, outstanding technologies, the achievement of strong delivery records and broad sales networks across the U.S.
With the aim of exploring the new development of ozone generation equipment and ceramic membrane businesses in the North American market, AAS will drive operations in these two businesses, while METAWATER will support AAS by supplying the relevant technologies and know-how gained over many years. METAWATER will focus on bolstering and expanding business in North America through the harmonization with AAS and the generation of synergy effects at an early stage.
The Group will carry on providing water infrastructure with global viewpoints in the coming years by using METAWATER’s and AAS’s integrated resources that have been built over years, aiming to contribute to sustaining a recycling-based society centered on water.
